Brisbane Youth Service

Who are we?
Brisbane Youth Service
Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) was founded in 1976 in response to the issue of youth homelessness and has grown from a single worker to more than 90 staff. We holistically support homeless and vulnerable young people aged between 12 and 25 years, and their children, to secure and maintain housing; address physical and mental health issues; establish successful relationships and support networks; and access pathways to education and employment. BYS has a long history of developing innovative services to respond to the identified needs of young people and young families. We are committed to evidence-informed practice and collaborative research and are accredited under the Human Services Quality Framework.
What are we doing?

The K.I.N.D Program

The K.I.N.D program pilot in Brisbane is designed by forensic psychologists from Youth Justice South Australia and is a trauma-informed psycho-educational intervention for young people using either adolescent to parent violence or intimate partner violence. The program aims to reduce violence while increasing connection and strength within relationships.
