Domestic Violence Action Centre

Who are we?
Domestic Violence Action Centre
At the Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) we've been providing specialist services to increase safety for individuals for 26 years. We are passionate leaders preventing and responding to gender-based violence. We are a values-based feminist organisation that is about building community awareness and collaboration, and strong accountability for people who use violence. We support survivors and their children to be safer and to live a life of their choice. We hold perpetrators accountable to their violence through delivery of behaviour intervention groups. Located in greater Ipswich, Toowoomba, Darling & Southern Downs regions, we provide specialist domestic, family, and sexual violence services across a broad geographic area of Southeast QLD.
What are we doing?

Positive Choices, Safer Families

Positive Choices, Safer Families will build positive support for men to maintain healthy behaviours and is an extension of the existing men's behaviour intervention program that DVAC delivers in the region to improve effectiveness and longer term safety outcomes for women and children. The program wil provide additional supports and time to embed new behaviours and begin to experience respectful relationships. The focus of sessions will include further education, awareness and resources to implement non-violent and non-abusive behaviours into the participants' daily lives which will focus on improvement of women and children's safety and wellbeing.
