Karinya House for Mothers and Babies

Who are we?
Karinya House for Mothers and Babies
Karinya House for Mothers and Babies is Canberra’s only specialist homelessness provider for women who are pregnant or parenting a newborn baby and have nowhere else to turn. Support from Karinya House is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Karinya House is a small non-religious, non-political community based, not for profit organisation offering residential and outreach case management and support for women in the ACT and surrounding region. Our vision is to provide a place of welcome, sanctuary and community to women, where individual case planning nurtures each individual woman’s holistic wellbeing. Last year, 73% of women supported by Karinya House had experienced domestic and family violence upon referral.
What are we doing?

Women's Voices: Understanding the Impact of Karinya House services for women and children with lived experience of violence

This project will focus on developing processes to capture Women’s Voices, which will include designing and implementing woman-centred, trauma-informed mechanisms that enable women to contribute ideas and feedback on their journey with Karinya House, that will inform our continuous improvement processes; and will enable a process to collect and analyse longitudinal data from women who have been supported by Karinya House.
