Launch Housing

Who are we?
The Cornelia Program will offer a pathway out of homelessness for pregnant women and new mothers by helping them to bond with and care for their babies in a real effort to keep them together as a family unit. Ultimately, it aims to change the life trajectory of some of Victoria’s most vulnerable women and babies. We can end homelessness in Melbourne if we work collaboratively across sectors and fund both housing and support.

What are we doing?

Launch Housing: Cornelia Progam

The Cornelia Program aims to change the life trajectory of some of Victoria’s most vulnerable babies. In an Australian-first, a partnership between Launch Housing, the Royal Women’s Hospital and Housing First offers a pathway out of homelessness for pregnant women and new mothers, helping them to bond with and care for their babies, access support services, gain independence and break the cycle of homelessness. The Cornelia Program addresses a major gap in the system: there is currently no dedicated program or service Australia-wide that supports pregnant, homeless women and their babies, a very vulnerable group. The ultimate goal of the Cornelia Program is to demonstrate an effective intervention in inter-generational disadvantage that can be replicated and scaled across Australia.
