Village Connect

Who are we?
This grant is a significant investment into the future of our young people. It takes a KOKO village working holistically with young people and their families to reduce recidivism. With this funding the reality of a better future for our community and our young people can be realised.

Village Connect
Village Connect (VC) is a Pasifika Holistic Health hub, founded upon culture, faith, family and future. It is a place based, grass roots, community-led organisation pioneering change through a holistic model that supports the flourishing of Pasifika and Māori people in Logan South East Queensland and beyond.
What are we doing?

What happens when a community comes together to form a village of support for our young people and their families?

KOKO Holistic Youth Hub

KOKO Village, where Youth Justice, Philanthropy, Community and Stakeholders collaborate for change. The KOKO holistic youth hub program has been operating for the last 15 months through an innovative grant from Youth Justice in 2022. Due to the success of the pilot program in reducing the serial repeat offenders that were engaged with KOKO, the program received further seed funding from Youth Justice. The hub provides a culturally responsive program offering wrap around services for the young person and their family/carers. The funding will be used to extend the program given the demand for it from other Youth Justice and community services. It will prevent or reduce further contact of young people with the justice system, reducing intergenerational incarceration by connecting with country, culture, education, employment and housing. It will also offer culturally tailored support to young people within the detention centre with strong pathways into community through the KOKO program and the mentors.
